I was given the following brief for the design challenge:
Search is one of the most used features of Primephonic. Our search built for classical allows our users to find what they specifically want to listen to, or explore new work by their favorite composers, artists or ensembles.
On our Search page, our users can find all kinds of entities: composers, conductors, artists, works, recordings, albums and tracks. During user interviews we found that this can be overwhelming for some, while others find that some results are irrelevant. Both use cases take away from our DNA as a company that understands classical.
We want to optimize our search results page to fit different users with different levels of classical knowledge.
Our users search for a wide range of things on Primephonic, and we want our app to be a home for classical lovers, no matter their experience or knowledge level. Given the statements of our users below, how would you optimize our current search results page?
Danielle: “I am fairly new to classical music, and I really enjoy Vivaldi. But seeing all the hits Primephonic gives, I wouldn’t know where to start!”
Charlotte: “I know exactly which recording of the Brandenburg concertos I want to listen to, but on Primephonic it returns too many irrelevant results.”
Proposed new UX/UI for optimized search feature - done independently as part of the challenge. I had 48 hours to complete the challenge.
